The browser extension runs quietly in the background and reports which websites you visit and how long you spend on each, feeding directly into the URL Activity report.
Works in Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, and Opera — same file, same steps:
- Unzip the downloaded file.
- Open your browser's extensions page: chrome://extensions in Chrome, edge://extensions in Edge, or opera://extensions in Opera (type it in the address bar).
- Turn on Developer mode (Chrome & Opera: toggle at the top right; Edge: toggle in the left sidebar).
- Click Load unpacked and select the unzipped folder.
- Click the new extension icon in your toolbar and enter the email you use to log into this tracker, then click Save.
That's it, it will start reporting your browsing activity automatically within a minute.
The desktop app fixes the biggest problems with tracking in a browser tab: the timer keeps perfect time even when minimized (browsers slow down background tabs, which caused missing hours), it keeps tracking from the system tray when you close the window, screenshots are taken without the “choose what to share” prompt, and it can start automatically with your computer.
⬇ Download for Windows (.exe) Download for Mac (.dmg)
- Run the downloaded AMC-Tracker-Setup file.
- If Windows shows a SmartScreen warning, click More info → Run anyway (the app is safe — it is just not code-signed yet).
- The app installs in a few seconds and opens automatically — sign in like you normally do.
- Closing the window keeps tracking running in the system tray. Right-click the tray icon to quit or change “start with computer”.
Mac install: open the .dmg, drag AMC Tracker into Applications, then the first time only: right-click the app → Open → Open (needed once because the app is not notarized yet). Works on both Apple Silicon and Intel Macs.
Once installed, you can track from the app instead of the browser tab. All downloads & checksums.
